WHAT SIZE LOCK IS NEEDED?
Usually the locks are 2.5 or 3 inches but it is possible to supply some shorter and longer versions.
The longer locks 5 or 6 inches are often found on internal doors usally on older properties
The 2 inch and less are rare but can be found on some aluminum doors.
CAN THE LOCKS BE MADE TO OPERATE WITH THE SAME KEY?
It is possible for this to be done with many locks but they have to be all from the same manufacturer. There are several things which can affect this and so if required ask at time of purchase.
ARE THE VARIOUS MAKES OF LOCKS INTERCHANGEABLE?
Most manufactures locks are not the exact same dimensions. So if replacing a lock either bring the old lock or take it out of the door and draw round it - make sure the keyhole and handle slot positions are marked. Otherwise remedial work maybe needed.
